How the pick actually gets made

Once the day's category is set, every pick runs the same gauntlet before it's allowed to reach you:

The genre changes dailyToday's genre is never yesterday's. It rotates through the genres actually in your library, with the occasional deliberate step just outside them.
Nothing you already ownChecked against your full library by title and artist — including remixes, live versions, and covers, so “Rumble (Live)” won't slip through because you own “Rumble.”
Never the same song twiceEvery song ever sent to you is remembered and permanently excluded.
Verified to be a real songEvery pick is checked against a public music database before sending. If a song can't be confirmed to exist, it's thrown out — you'll never get a convincing-sounding track that was never released.
Your feedback outranks all of itReply once with “never send me another female rap artist” and it becomes a standing rule applied to every future pick. Newer instructions win over older ones.

If no song survives all of that on a given day, you get nothing rather than something mediocre. A missed morning beats a bad pick.
